Under 4

Children under 4 travel free when they travel on your lap—on all our trains except iDTGVs, where they need an adult ticket.

To reserve a seat for your under-4, choose one of these options:

  • Bambin discount on TGV, TER and Intercités trains
  • Enfant+ railcard—a separate seat is included
  • Kid fare on Thalys trains

Ages 4 to 11

If your child is at least 4 but not yet 12, he pays half-fare on all our trains (except in iDTGVs, where he needs an adult ticket just like you).

Will your child be travelling solo over a weekend or during school holidays? Use our Junior & Cie service for over 120 destinations: youngsters age 4 to 14 travel in a group with a trained staff member, who looks after them and organizes activities for a safe, fun journey.

And if you plan to travel with your kids in Europe, look for our specially priced Enfants tickets on Eurostar, Thalys, TGV France-Italy and TGV France-Spain.

Travelling
with children

When you travel with a child under 12, you can get a lower fare too. With our Enfant+ railcard, up to 4 of the child’s travelling companions are guaranteed to save 25%, as compared with the Loisir fare for a passenger travelling without a card—even if you book at the last minute. And children under 12 pay half the price of an adult ticket.

Please remember that parents are responsible for underage children at all times.

With our Loisir Réduit fare, 4 people accompanying a child over 4 can save 25% on travel during off-peak periods (shown in blue on our Fare Calendar) on Intercités trains with optional reservations*. And if you’re travelling with one or more children under 12, you can save 25% on journeys during off-peak periods. That even includes the babysitter: the child’s travelling companions don’t have to be family members to get a discount! And with our Découverte Enfant+ fare, 4 travelling companions can get 50% off the normal fare when they accompany a child age 4-11 on TER trains.

*Offer valid for select destinations.
