Under 4
Is your child under 4? She travels free—with her own seat—in all trains except iDTGVs, where she’ll need an adult ticket.
To reserve a seat for your under-4, use one of these options:
- Bambin discount in TGV, TER and Intercité trains
- Enfant+ railcard—a separate seat comes with the ticket
- Tarif Kid in Thalys trains
Ages 4 to 12
If your child is age 4 to 12, he pays half-fare on all our trains (except in iDTGVs, where he needs an adult ticket just like you).
Will your child be travelling alone over a weekend or during school holidays? Use our Junior & Cie service for over 120 destinations: youngsters age 4 to 14 travel with a trained staff member who looks after them and organizes activities for a safe, fun journey.
And if you plan to travel with your kids in Europe, look for special children’s discounts on Eurostar, Thalys, Elipsos and other services.

with children
When you travel with a child under 12, you can get a lower fare too.
On TER and Intercité trains with optional reservations, our Découverte Enfant + offer gives up to 4 of the child’s travelling companions a 25% discount during off-peak travel. And that includes the babysitter—you don’t have to be a member of the family to get a reduced fare!
If you often travel with your child, opt for an Enfant + railcard, which guarantees 25-50% reductions for all 4 companions, even if you buy tickets at the last minute.
