The SNCF's workplace integration projects enable people who have struggled with unemployment or a lack of qualifications to get back into the working life and society at large. Each project lasts between 6 and 18 months and sees its participants working on genuinely useful assignments, such as weeding tracks, renovating station façades or planting flowers on station forecourts. The participants are supervised by experts from the "Chantier école" network who are there to help them learn a trade. By the end of 2011, SNCF, TER and Transilien will have created 135 workplace integration projects, giving 1500 people a second chance to get back into working life. The SNCF is working to promote a more mobile society that shows respect and solidarity to all. That's what "ecomobility" is all about - it's a serious commitment for us. |
