SNCF Careers for women

10/03/08

All the jobs available with the SNCF are open to women, even the most technical. This is a call for keen engineers and operating technicians!

25% of applicants in 2009 were women, and they represent 23.4% of this year's recruits. Which just goes to show that the SNCF's door is wide open! It's true that the overall percentage of female personnel at the SNCF is under 20%, but that figure increases to 23% at a management level, and we're just waiting for the ladies to help us increase that number!

No limits! All SNCF jobs are open to women, even technical jobs that involve physical strength like maintenance and handling. For some, this is old news. The number of women in these jobs has been on the up since 2008, and more and more so as young engineers join us, recruited by the patrons of the "Elles bougent" association who tour engineering schools and universities to encourage girls to apply.

Yes to diversity! In February 2009, the SNCF management team and all the trade union organisations endorsed a company-wide agreement on male/female equality and diversity. It aims to encourage women into jobs that are still very male-dominated and to publicise the opportunities for women at the SNCF. We're on it!
