Bus, tram, metro, car, bike… The daily train is getting faster and reinventing the commuter journey. Some specific examples… For thousands of travellers, the daily commute begins on the bus or in the car to the station, continues on the train and ends on the bus or tram with all the waiting in between that we are all too familiar with. For SNCF, it is SNCF Proximités, an important sector (France’s number 1 in passenger numbers) which is looking beyond the train and the platform. On 10 October, 200 councillors and 400 employees of SNCF Proximités, from all modes of transport and organisations, came to see the progress being made in unifying different modes of transport. There were managers from TER (suburban trains), Transilien and Corail Intercités, but also from Keolis (bus and tram transport networks) and EFFIA (which runs station car parks among other things). Cooperation between SNCF, Keolis and EFFIA aims to enable passengers to pass swiftly from one mode of transport to another without a second thought. |
