Freeze, there's Metz!

Metz Station Centennial

08/06/17

On Sunday, June 22, Metz station will celebrate its 100th anniversary with drums beating and trains. Come by TER, TGV, or even by foot - you're expected at the party!

How many will you be? From 9am to 10:30am, breakfast is free for everyone at the train station. Come meet other locals and visitors from further away - Paris, Germany, or Luxemburg - as well as the SNCF staff that help the station and the regional trains run smoothly.

This guy's famous. His name is Éric Pieczak, world rail speed record-holder, and he's here to show you around the record-setting train (top speed 574.8 kph). Yesterday's locomotives and today's TER train await you at the platform. All aboard! And if you're a model train enthusiast, the regional railway model exhibition will impress you.

Follow the official guide through the history and architectural treasures of the station, which is under consideration to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The SNCF postcard and lost property exhibition will take you back to the time of the railroad. Remember when... The cinema space will be showing clips from unforgettable films shot in stations and in trains. Dream a little... Or would you rather sing? The karaoke space in the departures hall will put you in the spotlight.

Jugglers, stilt walkers, acrobats, a dance troupe, and local choirs will carry you into the evening in a public celebration such as one rarely sees - once every 100 years, in fact!
