Caen station is getting a facelift, with a complete interior redesign, increased accessibility for people with reduced mobility and a multi-modal transport hub.

A two year project. That's how long it has taken to rejuvenate Caen station. The building's landmark feature - its big 1930s glass canopy - now looks down on completely redesigned areas, with warm, modern styling. The specifications for the makeover were clear - improve the accessibility, information and customer services for passengers.

Total accessibility for people with reduced mobility! In compliance with the Disability Act dated 11 February 2005, the station features a new ticket sales area, with a 170 sq m customer advice zone and a self-service hub with 7 automatic machines. Display screens keep customers informed of current offers and promotions. Travel advisers are available at key times to welcome, inform and direct customers.

Enjoyment is the key word! Caen station has been fitted out with new sales areas - a restaurant, fast food outlets, a newsagents, a cash machine and drinks and sweets vending machines.

Putting customer service first! The station is now a fully integrated part of its social and urban environment. Everything has been designed with multi-modal transport in mind. There is a passengers gallery stuffed with information screens, ensuring people can move easily through the station. The coach station is at hand, along with a tram stop, taxi rank, drop-off point, a car park and a self-service bicycle hire stand.
