Electricity reaches the Nantes/La Roche-sur-Yon/Les Sables d'Olonne line and you save time in TGV and in TER.
How much? You save 15 to 20 minutes with the two direct TGV routes between Paris-Montparnasse and Les Sables d'Olonne. 5 to 7 minutes on TER routes, despite the increased number of stops. New electric trains will be in service, offering 21,000 extra seats by 2010. Guillaume Pepy's promise was to bring the TER service up to the standards set by the TGV! Getting the regions moving. This new project is costing €105 million and is funded by 7 different organisations - the Pays de Loire Regional Council, the Vendée and Loire-Atlantique Départements, the Pays Yonnais and Olonnes District Councils, the French Government and RFF. Another step forward for ecomobility... The work will take 3 years, and involve erecting 3800 poles and rolling out overhead power lines for 112 km of track in order to swap diesel for electricity, a much cleaner option. Even better - the 165 trackside alarm phones will be powered with solar energy. |
