The Purchasing Division defines and manages SNCF purchasing and quality policies. It also is directly responsible for purchasing certain products, such as:
-production and non-production supplies with a nationwide scope.
-intellectual, IT and other services with a nationwide scope.
In the regions of France, the Purchasing Division buys through 7 cross-regional purchasing centres in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Metz, Nantes and Paris. Purchasing is structured as follows:
- Investment works
- Bridges and structures; Track; Electrical systems and signals; Overhead power lines; Telecommunications; Buildings maintenance; New build.
- Cleaning of stations and workshops; cleaning of rolling stock; security services and cash transportation; intellectual services; transport; other services; supplies; sales of old materials.
The Rolling Stock Division purchases:
New rolling stock (locomotives, wagons, TGVs etc.)
- Rolling stock maintenance and refurbishment
- Big special purpose tooling and machinery
