Updated on

Luc Chaumette studied international relations, defence, and security and earned a doctorate (Doctorat d’État) in public law, specializing in nuclear safety and transport. He then moved into new areas: logistics, operations, crisis management and high-stakes project management.

In 2001 he joined SNCF as an operations manager at Société de Transport de Véhicules Automobiles (formerly a subsidiary of SNCF Logistics), and later served as a unit manager and an international operations manager. In 2010 he joined Réseau Ferré de France and then moved to SNCF Infra, focusing on works capacity, line openings and station capacity. Over the following 11 years, his work at the company (which became SNCF Réseau in 2015) included train path production, rail traffic management, and operational excellence, including innovation, digital, and passenger information.

Before Mr Chaumette joined Rail Logistics Europe, he oversaw rail system performance under SNCF Réseau’s Operations and Services Division. He also served as National Director of Operations, managing operations and resolving disruptions and crises affecting the French national rail network.
