REACHING OUT

SNCF is implementing a comprehensive accessibility policy that will reach all travellers—from pregnant women to the elderly and others with limited mobility—by 2015.

  • Investments in increased accessibility are matched to the obstacles to be overcome.
  • SNCF offers tailored services, such as our Accès Plus special assistance program.
  • SNCF employees who work with clients are trained to meet the expectations of the handicapped and to interact with them appropriately.

CASE STUDY

Cutting-edge accessibility on the Rhine-Rhone TGV line

The Commission for Accessibility and Gares & Connexions have worked with associations for every kind of handicap to build accessibility into the new high-speed stations at Besançon Franche-Comté and Belfort-Montbéliard—from parking lot to platform. Features include tactile floor strips, magnetic induction loop technology, extra-large pictograms, and a high-tech passenger information app. A virtual guide translates loudspeaker announcements into sign language, and Bluetooth beacons translate on-screen text into audio files that users can access with their smartphone.
