Castorama chooses Geodis for e-commerce logistics

Geodis takes over transport and logistics for Castorama, delivering on-line orders to homes throughout France.

New warehouse

Geodis is now handling Castorama’s e-commerce logistics in France, under a new three-year contract that deepens a partnership dating back to 2005. To meet Castorama’s transport and logistics needs, the SNCF subsidiary is relying on its new warehouse in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, which began operations at the beginning of the year. The 24,000 sq m facility enables Geodis to handle the DIY giant’s e-commerce business as well as the cross-docking operations required to stock Castorama stores in nearby Lyon. In cross-docking, incoming items are sent out again immediately whenever possible, and intermediate storage is eliminated, saving time, cutting costs, and improving tracking quality.

Storage, preparation,
and shipment

Some 8,000 sq m of the warehouse are earmarked for storage, order preparation and coordination of transport operations for the 12,000 products sold on Castorama’s website. In particular, Geodis provides delivery of bulky and high-value-added goods that require special handling. Thanks to the Castorama contract, 36 new jobs have been created at the Saint-Quentin-Fallavier warehouse.
