Green logistics
for Monoprix

Anticipating ever-greater restrictions on downtown deliveries, Fret SNCF and Monoprix had revolutionized the “last kilometre” by 2007.

BETTER DELIVERY FOR CENTRAL PARIS

With 90 retail stores in central Paris, Monoprix struggles daily with the city’s traffic congestion and limited road and parking space. These challenges plus growing customer awareness of climate change led Monoprix to become a sustainability pioneer—and to seek an efficient urban logistics solution for end-to-end deliveries.

RAIL + LNG
DELIVERY VEHICLES

The solution proposed by SNCF in 2007 quickly won Monoprix’s vote. Every week, five trains carry Monoprix products from suburban warehouses to the Paris-Bercy freight facility in Paris itself. From there, LNG-powered delivery vehicles handle “last kilometre” deliveries to Monoprix stores.

Results: Service quality is rated at over 97%, Monoprix has a new selling point, and SNCF’s contract has been renewed for another three years.
